About Athletes in Action
Athletes in Action (AIA) is a Christian sports ministry committed to helping young athletes grow in faith, life, and sport. Through volleyball, basketball, soccer, and other programs, we create environments where athletes can develop their skills, build meaningful relationships, and learn how their faith can shape the way they approach sport and life.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Volleyball Coach to lead our U13 Girls team during the upcoming club volleyball season.
The Role The Coach will provide leadership and direction for a U13 girls volleyball team throughout the club season. This is an opportunity to develop young athletes not only as volleyball players, but also as teammates, leaders, and people.
The successful candidate will work alongside our Manitoba Director and be responsible for planning and leading practices, coaching during tournaments, developing individual and team skills, and creating a positive, encouraging team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead two evening practices per week
- Develop age-appropriate volleyball practices focused on fundamental skills, teamwork, game understanding, and player development
- Coach the team at approximately 3-4 local tournaments between February and May
- Participate in team tryouts and help evaluate prospective athletes
- Provide positive, constructive feedback and encouragement to athletes
- Create a team culture characterized by respect, teamwork, effort, and fun
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and team matters
- Work collaboratively with Athletes in Action Regional Director and other coaches
- Help integrate AIA's Faith | Life | Sport philosophy into the team setting
Qualifications
Required
- Experience playing or coaching volleyball
- Ability to work effectively with girls ages 12–13
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to create a positive and supportive team environment
- Reliable transportation and availability for evening practices and weekend tournaments
- Willingness to complete any required screening, training, and certification requirements
Because Athletes in Action is a Christian ministry, the ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable working within a Christian environment and who understands our Faith | Life | Sport philosophy. You do not need to be a professional coach or ministry worker. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young athletes and wants to use sport as an opportunity to positively influence the next generation.
Time Commitment The approximate commitment will include:
- 2 evening practices per week between January and May
- 3-4 Saturday tournaments between February and May
- 1-2 coach training sessions in December
- 2 Team tryouts
- Occasional additional communication, planning, and team administration
