THE JOB

The User Experience Designer partners with end users, product teams, researchers, developers, and business stakeholders to create intuitive, accessible, and impactful digital experiences across MHS products. Working across the product lifecycle, they help transform user insights, business needs, and technical requirements into thoughtful web and mobile solutions.
This role requires strong UX expertise, sound design judgment, and comfort using AI-enabled tools to support research, ideation, content creation, and design efficiency. The successful candidate brings a strong UX foundation, a well-crafted portfolio, and the ability to collaborate effectively to deliver solutions that are user focused, technically feasible, and aligned to business goals.
As MHS continues to evolve solutions across clinical, education, talent, and public safety markets, the User Experience Designer will help reduce complexity and create meaningful value for customers and users.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to conceptualize, design, validate, and implement new digital products and features using user-centered design principles.
- Create insight-driven and user-centric experiences across web, mobile, and AI-enabled platforms.
- Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, analytics, workshops, and observational studies.
- Translate complex business, scientific, and technical requirements into transparent and intuitive user experiences.
- Produce user journeys, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, design systems, and high-fidelity user interface designs.
- Leverage AI tools responsibly to accelerate research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content generation, and documentation activities.
- Design user experiences that incorporate AI assistants, intelligent automation, and agent-based workflows while maintaining transparency, trust, and human oversight.
- Identify opportunities to reduce friction, effort, and human error through thoughtful design and automation.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to ensure design quality throughout implementation and release.
- Contribute to and evolve MHS design standards, design systems, accessibility guidelines, and UX best practices.
- Create, maintain, and communicate design artifacts, research findings, and project documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
WHAT YOU BRING Ideally, you are a curious, user-centered designer who is passionate about understanding people, uncovering insights, and translating complex needs into intuitive digital experiences. You are highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable balancing multiple projects while moving work forward against tight timelines. You bring strong research, problem-solving, and visual communication skills, along with the ability to clearly present design thinking, recommendations, and solutions to cross-functional stakeholders.
In addition, you bring:
- 3+ years experience creating and implementing UX/UI designs for complex digital products.
- Post-secondary education in Design, or equivalent experience
- Fluency in modern UX design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Adobe XD
- Experience using AI-enabled tools to support research, design exploration, prototyping, content creation, and workflow optimization.
- Understanding of human-centered AI principles, including transparency, explainability, trust, accessibility, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
- Experience designing workflows that combine human decision-making with intelligent automation and AI-assisted processes.
- Knowledge of conversational interfaces, AI copilots, intelligent assistants, or agentic user experiences is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Design and Office tools for content layout & Graphic Design:
Adobe InDesign, MS Word, Adobe Illustrator, etc.
- Strong technical knowledge of how web-based technologies apply to web design such as HTML, HTML 5, Bootstrap, and CSS
- Knowledge of responsive design principles and guidelines
- Familiarity with accessibility standards including WCAG, ADA, and AODA
- Experience working in an agile/scrum development process is an asset
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills with the ability to solve complex user and business challenges.
- Experience working within agile and cross-functional product development environments.
About the Team The User Experience Team brings together research, strategy, and design to create intuitive, accessible, and meaningful experiences across MHS products. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and business stakeholders, the team turns user insights and complex requirements into clear, cohesive solutions that support customer needs and business goals. The team champions user-centered and inclusive design throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery and research through prototyping, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement. By strengthening design standards, encouraging collaboration, and thoughtfully applying emerging technologies, the User Experience Team helps MHS deliver trusted digital experiences that reduce complexity and create lasting value for customers and users.
Salary: $70,000 to $75,000 per annum
