What You'll Do
As an Underground Utility Installer (Labourer), you will support the installation of underground utility and electrical infrastructure throughout the Edmonton area. Working alongside experienced Foremen and Lead Hands, you'll play an important role in helping projects progress safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities Include
- Performing manual labour to support underground utility installations
- Loading, unloading, and moving construction materials to and from work areas
- Digging, backfilling, and cleaning trenches
- Assisting with the installation of underground utilities and fibre optic infrastructure
- Supporting equipment operators and learning to operate construction equipment
- Maintaining clean, organized, and safe worksites
- Performing ongoing maintenance of work areas, trenches, and equipment
- Completing general labour activities required to support construction operations

- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Perform physically demanding labour throughout the workday
- Regular lifting of materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching
- Work 8-10 hour shifts, 5-6 days per week
- Arrive ready to contribute as part of a hardworking construction crew

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- 7 months to 1 year of construction industry experience
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend, and walk throughout the workday
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Assets That Will Help You Stand Out While not required, we'd love to hear from candidates who have:
- Previous underground utility installation experience
- Fibre optic cable installation experience
- Civil construction experience
- Experience operating construction equipment
- Experience working around excavations and trenches
- Utility locating or related industry experience
