About The Role
We’re looking for a strategic and accomplished Vice President of Finance to join our Executive Team and lead the finance function across a growing portfolio of multi-family and hospitality assets. In this high-impact leadership role, you’ll guide the financial direction of the company while helping shape the culture and long-term strategy of the organization.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, you’ll oversee all aspects of corporate finance, taxation, capital management, and financial reporting. You’ll also collaborate cross-functionally and externally with institutional partners, lenders, and advisors to drive value creation and operational excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a CPA-designated leader with strong tax and real estate experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in scaling a dynamic organization.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a key member of the Executive Team, helping shape company strategy, culture, and long-term growth.
- Lead the Finance function and provide strategic direction across an institutional-grade portfolio of multi-residential and hospitality assets across Canada.
- Oversee financial operations, including monthly and annual reporting, forecasting, budgeting, audits, and financial performance analysis.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Finance team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Oversee corporate taxation, cash flow, debt, investments, and compliance in partnership with external advisors.
- Lead and support capital markets activities, including acquisitions, financing, refinancing, due diligence, financial modelling, and investment analysis.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, investors, bankers, brokers, legal counsel, advisors, and other key partners.
- Partner with executive leadership on debt financing strategies, including CMHC and conventional lending, and oversee lender covenants and reporting requirements.
- Drive the effective use of financial systems, technology, and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making.
- Oversee key corporate vendors and functions, including IT and insurance, while ensuring strong service delivery and operational continuity.
What We’re Looking For
- CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting designation) required; advanced tax coursework or certification strongly preferred.
- 7–10+ years of progressive finance and taxation experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role overseeing strategy, teams, and cross-departmental collaboration within a real estate, hospitality, or investment-focused organization.
- Strong background in corporate tax planning and compliance, including experience managing taxation for holding companies and investment structures, and working with external tax advisors.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and capital management across complex portfolios, preferably including multi-family and hospitality assets.
- Proven ability in strategic financial planning and execution, aligning departmental goals with broader business objectives.
- Experience with debt financing and capital markets, including CMHC and conventional lending, covenant reporting, and maintaining robust lender relationships.
- Advanced understanding of investment due diligence, financial modeling, and the preparation of investor/lender presentations and materials.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a track record of building and empowering high-performing finance teams, mentoring staff, and fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
- Committed to cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to align finance goals with the needs of other departments by promoting shared understanding of roles, responsibilities, and interdependencies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and finance software implementations that drive process efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Experience overseeing IT, insurance, and third-party vendor contracts is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level and maintain relationships with investors, lenders, legal counsel, and institutional partners.
