Overview

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Water Truck Operator to join our team for the upcoming Winter Season for the construction of ice roads. You will be responsible for operating a water truck (a tandem or a tandem floater, depending on experience) to freeze in ice roads, and drill pads, and also supply Snowmakers with water. This position is ideal for individuals comfortable working in extreme cold, remote locations, and long shifts, including day or nighttime operations.

Duties

- Operate a water truck to apply water in specific layers to build up and maintain ice roads.
- Monitor ice thickness and water application to ensure structural integrity and safety.
- Drive and maneuver trucks safely in remote, off-road, and icy conditions.
- Coordinate and communicate with Ice road Supervisors, Foreman, Equipment Operators, Snowmaking Operators and Construction Teams.
- Accurately log daily activities, water usage, and areas of concern on road sections in your work area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, especially those related to cold weather operations and environmental protection, as well as keeping all other workers in the area safe.




- Respond to changing road and weather conditions and adjust driving/application techniques accordingly.

Qualifications

- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required. Class 1 or 3 with air brake endorsement.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy trucks in off-road or remote settings.
- Previous experience working in ice road construction or winter road maintenance preferred.
- Physically fit and able to work long shifts in extreme cold (-40°C or lower)
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Willingness to work in remote locations with limited access to amenities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with supervision.
- Solid commitment to safety and situational awareness is a must if you are going to join our team.
- Previous experience and good standing at Suncor sites is a bonus.

Job Type: Seasonal Pay: $450.00-$525.00 per day
