Open-Source Web Server Administrator – Apache Tomcat / Linux

Location: Calgary, AB

Work Arrangement: 5 days onsite

Duration: 12-month contract

Interview: 1 hour, approximately 40 minutes technical / 20 minutes behavioral

Pay: $38/hr. (USD)

Position Overview

CPKC is seeking an Open-Source Web Server Administrator to support project work and day-to-day operations within a business-critical rail environment. This person will help maintain the reliability, performance, and stability of the web server setting and supporting infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Linux and web server administration. Apache Tomcat experience is preferred, but candidates with experience administering other web server technologies will also be considered.

Responsibilities

- Administer, monitor, and support Apache Tomcat or other web server environments
- Install, configure, and maintain web servers, including SSL setup and application deployments
- Support Java installation and configuration within the web server environment
- Troubleshoot and debug web server and Linux-related issues




- Support integrations with SAP and non-SAP applications
- Monitor system performance and identify potential performance or design issues
- Analyze recurring incidents and recommend solutions through the problem management process
- Maintain system documentation and provide knowledge transfer to support teams
- Follow established governance, methodologies, and operational procedures

Required Experience

- Diploma or equivalent education/experience
- 2+ years of hands-on IT experience
- 1+ year of Linux infrastructure experience
- 1+ year of web server administration experience
- Experience installing, configuring, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting web server environments
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in Calgary 5 days per week

- Apache Tomcat administration
- Tomcat installation, configuration, SSL setup, deployment, and monitoring
- Java installation and setup
- Linux scripting
- Integration with SAP and non-SAP applications
