Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable Welder / Fabricator to join our shop team.

The primary responsibility will be SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding / Stick Welding) and fabrication of steel components used in construction support equipment, including adjustable shoring jacks and related metal products.

The work involves preparing steel components, cutting and drilling material, fitting parts together, and welding completed assemblies according to drawings, measurements, and specifications.

The position may also involve welding and fabricating other steel components and products as required by the business.

Responsibilities

- Perform SMAW / Stick Welding on carbon steel components and assemblies
- Weld steel pipes, tubes, plates, legs, and other metal components
- Fabricate and assemble adjustable shoring jacks and structural support components
- Read and follow basic welding drawings, measurements, and fabrication specifications
- Measure, mark, cut, and prepare steel components for fabrication
- Drill holes and perform basic material preparation
- Fit and align components before welding
- Perform tack welding and final welds
- Grind and clean weld areas when required
- Visually inspect completed welds for quality and proper appearance
- Repair or rework welds when necessary
- Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized
- Follow workplace safety procedures and proper welding practices
- Assist with fabrication and welding of other company products when required

Qualifications





- Practical experience with SMAW / Stick Welding
- Ability to produce consistent, quality welds on steel
- Basic ability to measure, cut, drill, fit, and prepare metal components
- Ability to read basic drawings or fabrication measurements
- Valuable understanding of welding safety and shop safety
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
- Ability to use common hand and power tools

Certification

CWB certification/qualification is an asset but is not required for the right candidate.

Candidates with practical welding experience who are willing to obtain the appropriate CWB qualification are encouraged to apply.

Additional welding certifications or trade qualifications are considered an asset.

Experience

Previous experience with SMAW / Stick Welding is preferred.

Candidates with hands-on welding experience who are motivated to improve their skills and obtain welding certification are encouraged to apply.

Experience with MIG/FCAW welding is an asset but is not required, as the primary welding process for this position is SMAW / Stick Welding.

Physical Requirements

This is primarily shop-based metal fabrication and welding work.

The position involves standing, bending, handling steel components, using hand and power tools, and lifting materials as required.

The work generally involves light-to-moderate fabrication tasks rather than heavy industrial welding.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
