Employment Opportunity Position: HIPPY Home Visitor Hours: Contract part-time, 25 hrs/week Location: Hybrid Compensation: $25.50 Contract Length: September 2026 to July 2027 Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is seeking a compassionate and community-minded HIPPY Home Visitor to support families with preschool-aged children in the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program. Working closely with newcomer, low-income, and socially isolated families, the Home Visitor helps parents build confidence as their child's first teacher while supporting children's school readiness, family wellbeing, and access to community resources. What You'll Do

Conduct weekly home visits with participating families

Introduce and model HIPPY learning activities for parents

Encourage parents to support their child's learning at home

Build trusting relationships and provide ongoing support to families

Connect families to community resources and services

Assist with group meetings, family events, field trips, and celebrations

Maintain participant records and program documentation

Participate in training, staff meetings, and career development

Represent PIRS at community outreach events and activities

What You Bring

High school diploma and relevant experience working with families, children, or community programs

Lived experience as a parent of a young child (ages 3–5) is a strong asset

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to motivate, encourage, and build positive relationships

Strong organizational and time-management skills





Flexibility and adaptability when working with diverse families

Additional language skills reflective of the communities served are highly valued

Working Conditions

Contract part-time position (25 hours/week), dependent on program funding

Community-based work involving home visits, outreach, and group activities

Regular travel throughout the service area

Regular home visits with families in a variety of home environments, requiring professionalism, cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, and adherence to organizational policies, confidentiality standards, and safety protocols

Occasional evening and weekend activities

Criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check is required
