As the Pharmacist (Operations Role) at ouronline pharmacy, you play a pivotal role in customer service, patient care, anddelivery of pharmacy services to our growing patient population. Yourresponsibilities encompass the entire practice scope for Pharmacists under theOntario College of Pharmacists. This includes ensuring the safety and qualityof pharmaceutical product preparation and release, providing service andsupport to our group home residents and staff, clinical verification ofprescription orders, prescription counseling, overseeing all dispensaryactivities, and providing training, guidance, and direction on standardoperating procedures for the pharmacy. You will participate in some clinicalservices such as minor ailments prescribing and pharmaceutical opinions as wellas supporting opportunities for the clinical pharmacist team in determiningpatient eligibility and fitness for the full suite of clinical services weoffer (identify, approach, and schedule patient services). In addition, you maybe called upon to provide reporting on various metrics to support decisionmaking by leadership. Your role is crucial in maintaining a seamless workflow,meeting deadlines, and delivering exceptional customer service. In all theduties you perform it is essential to comply with all ethics and standards ofpractise of the Ontario College of Pharmacists for Regulated PharmacyTechnicians and under the supervision of licensed Pharmacists. Key Responsibilities:
1 - Dispensary Operations:
Provide pharmacist oversight and patient care within thedispensary and as part of prescription dispensing activities.
Clinically verify prescriptions entered in the pharmacymanagement system.
Counsel on prescriptions as deemed appropriate and in linewith Ontario College of Pharmacists standards of practice and ethics.
Oversee all compounding activities to ensure patient safetyand adherence to standard operating procedures and Ontario College ofPharmacists standards of practice.
Monitor and adjust dispensary operations and standardoperating procedures as needed to maintain patient safety, accuracy, customerservice, and patient care.
Train pharmacy team members to ensure sound operations and adherenceto standards of practice and standard operating procedures.
Participate in identifying, documenting, analyzing, andresolving medication incidents using Pharmapod.
Communicate effectivelywith the team to analyze and resolve medication incidents. Report on metrics as requested to support business decisionmaking.
Participate in projects and meetings regarding initiatives andprograms that require pharmacy operations input and oversight.
2- Group Home service:
Be a point of contact for group home staff, management, andleadership regarding standard operating policies and procedures andinitiatives.
Ensure all required activities to support group homeoperations by the pharmacy are identified and completed as needed.
Recommend enhancements to group home standard operatingprocedures to improve patient safety and accuracy throughout theprescription workflow process.
Train new and existing team members on appropriate group hometasks.
Identify, analyze, resolve, and communicate issues related topharmacy service, medication incidents, and current group home requirements.
Provide after-hours on-call services to group homes asassigned by manager.
Provide reporting as requested by leadership to supportbusiness decision making.
3- Professional Services:
Identify opportunities appropriate to support patient care andwellness. Provide patients with information about the service andschedule appointments or refer to clinical pharmacist team.
Provide minor ailment assessment and prescribing services.
Provide pharmaceutical opinion services when appropriate.
Support the efforts and activities of the clinical pharmacist activities.
4- Additional Duties:
Complete additional duties as assigned by manager and otherleadership within the organization.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accreditedinstitution.
Current Ontario College of Pharmacists licensure (Registered inPart A and in good standing).
Experience with group home or long-term care is an asset.
Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality pharmacyservice and patient care; development of operations/programs/projects toil? improve and enhance service delivery is an asset.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Desire and drive to grow pharmacy service delivery.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Bilingualism is an asset.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Familiarity with pharmacy software systems (Kroll, PACMed Core).
