We are building a hydrovac town crew for a locally owned Fort McMurray hydrovac and mechanical contractor that has served Northern Alberta since 2007. The crew runs daylighting and utility locating, slot trenching, pile hole excavation, debris removal and clean outs, and cold weather excavation with heated hydrovac systems across construction, oil and gas, utilities, municipal and industrial work.
This is town based work with variety. You will not be parked on one site. Expect in town jobs around Fort McMurray, with occasional runs out to site.
What You'll Do
Operate a hydrovac truck safely and productively, including standard transmission units
Perform daylighting and utility locating to expose gas lines, electrical conduit, fibre optics and other buried utilities with no damage
Cut slot trenches for cable, pipeline and drainage work in tight and congested ground
Excavate pile holes for signposts, fencing and structural supports
Clean out manholes, culverts, catch basins and industrial debris
Take responsibility for the truck: pre trip and post trip inspections, fluid and filter checks, cleanliness, and reporting defects early
Complete the paperwork the job requires, including logs, tickets, hazard assessments and field level risk assessments
Work the ground alongside your swamper. On this crew the operator and the swamper split the physical work evenly. Nobody sits in the cab while their partner works in the cold
Follow site specific safety requirements and stop work when conditions are not safe

Proven ability to operate a standard transmission. Every truck on this fleet is a standard

Physically capable of hydrovac work outdoors in Alberta winter conditions
