As a Genetics Counselor I, you will assess risk factors for genetic conditions, interpret results, and guide patients and families with informed choices regarding testing and options. You will interact closely with a diverse team within the Genetics and Genomics unit at U of A Hospital. Your role is critical in helping families navigate the complexities of genetic information and implications for their health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess genetic risks for patients and families
• Interpret genetic test results and inheritance patterns
• Promote informed choices regarding genetic options
• Provide supportive counseling with sensitivity
• Serve as an educator for healthcare specialists
Requirements:
• Master of Genetic Counseling degree required
• Board Certification or eligibility with CAGC or ABGC
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in clinical genetic counseling preferred
• Knowledge of Specimen Gate and Epic is an asset
