Identify parts and materials required for equipment repair from equipment manuals and parts list.
Ensure equipment is functional and safe to operate.
Provide failure analysis.
Perform minor cutting and welding repairs as required.
Suggest substitutions or upgrades to reduce costs or increase service life when appropriate.
Skills And Qualifications
A minimum of a Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician, Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
Experience maintaining and repairing locomotives and other tracked equipment preferred.
Valuable understanding of diesel and gasoline fueled systems.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanic in an industrial setting with automotive and heavy equipment (e.g., loaders, graders, dump trucks, forklifts, dozers).
Completion or recent completion of CAAT and DAT testing in a satisfactory manner.
Alternative Fuel Technician license considered an asset.
