Teaching Assistant in the Contemporary Studies Program (Part-time)

A small and extraordinarily lively academic community located in Halifax (Kjipuktuk), Nova Scotia, King’s is known nationally and internationally for its interdisciplinary programs in the humanities, including its first-year Foundation Year Program, its professional programs in journalism and its fine arts programs in creative writing. The Contemporary Studies Program (CSP) at the University of King’s College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in CTMP 2001.03F: “Social and Political Thought 1” in the 2026/27 academic year. CTMP 2001 is a broad interdisciplinary course which surveys social and political thought from the early 19th century to the early 20th. Writers explored include Hegel, Marx, Zetkin, Mill, Jacobs, Kierkegaard, and Woolf. The fall work term runs from September 8 to December 31, 2026. Duties include but not limited to:

reading course material attending lectures (please consult the Dalhousie Academic Timetable regarding class time)



leading a weekly one-hour tutorial holding office hours and ensuring an online presence to assist students with assignments consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations grading short assignments Qualifications and Experience

Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. Familiarity with the up-to-date and contemporary periods will be considered an asset, as will prior TA experience (at the university level). Hourly Rate of Pay:

$35.11/hr (classification of TA90). Position is conditional on the course’s final enrollment numbers.
