Recreational Activities Technician, Temporary Special Project: Sports Etudes

Nature of the work The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in organizing social, cultural and sports activities of all types mainly for groups, taking into account their expectations as well as established policies either as a complement to certain educational programs or more often as recreation.

Characteristic functions The employee in this class of employment participates in the preparation and implementation of sports and sociocultural activity programs, such as music, theatre, cinema, visual arts, exhibitions, sports tournaments and gymnastics.

The employee participates in determining the activities; prepares program schedules and ensures the smooth operation; explains the nature, objectives and regulations regarding activities; identifies abnormal situations and rectifies or reports them to the authorities according to established instructions.

Uses facilitation techniques to assist groups in organizing and setting up leisure activities.

In residences, the employee is required to provide information, guide and direct students with respect to the various aspects of residence life.

Depending on the problems or situations encountered, he or she may be required to contact the school staff and, at times, parents.

In keeping with the policy established, the employee may be responsible for information: publicity committee, bulletin, postings and news releases in newspapers or on the radio.

Participates in selecting equipment and materials that the school board places at the disposal of groups and, in particular,



takes into account the quality and cost of the equipment and makes appropriate recommendations to the authorities concerned.

Oversees the maintenance of the equipment in the inventory and ensures its rational use.

May be required to train less experienced technicians as well as coordinate the work of support staff in performing duties related to the implementation of programs involving technical operations for which the employee is responsible.

If need be, performs any other related duty.

Required qualifications Schooling and experience: Hold a Diploma of College Studies in Community Recreation Leadership Training or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

Other requirements

Must speak French

Ability to manage an active group of students who struggle during unstructured times.

Ability to keep students active while maintaining a firm, fair, fun and safe setting.

In accordance with Law 94, new employees must comply with regulations concerning the wearing of religious symbols in the workplace.

Nature du travail Le rle principal et habituel de la personne salarie de cette classe demplois consiste sassurer du respect, par les lves, de la politique dencadrement de lcole concernant la discipline.

Attributions caractristiques La personne salarie de cette classe d''emplois participe l''laboration et la mise en application de programmes d''activits socioculturelles et sportives tels que la musique, le thtre, le cinma, les arts plastiques, les expositions, les tournois de sport, la gymnastique.

Participe au choix des activits; elle labore l''horaire du programme et en assure le fonctionnement; explique la nature, l''objectif et les rglements des activits et note les situations anormales, les corrige ou en fait rapport aux autorits, selon les directives tablies.

Sert des techniques d''animation afin d''aider les groupes s''organiser et se donner des activits de loisirs.

Dans les rsidences, est en outre appele renseigner, guider et diriger les lves dans les divers aspects de la vie en rsidence; selon les problmes ou les situations rencontres, peut tre appele communiquer avec le personnel des coles frquentes ou l''occasion, avec les parents.

En conformit avec la politique tablie, elle peut tre charge de l''information : comit de publicit, bulletin, affichage, communiqus dans les journaux et la radio.

Participe au choix de l''quipement et du matriel que la commission scolaire met la disposition des groupes, notamment en tudiant la qualit et le cot de tels articles et en faisant les recommandations appropries aux autorits; elle supervise l''entretien des articles en inventaire et en assure une utilisation rationnelle.

Peut tre appele initier des techniciennes ou techniciens moins expriments de mme qu'' coordonner le travail du personnel de soutien dans les tches accomplies par ce personnel relativement la ralisation de programmes d''oprations techniques dont elle est responsable.

Au besoin, accomplit toute autre tche connexe.

Qualifications requises Scolarit et exprience: tre titulaire d''un diplme d''tudes collgiales en techniques de gestion et d''intervention en loisir ou tre titulaire d''un diplme ou d''une attestation d''tudes dont l''quivalence est reconnue par l''autorit comptente.

Autres exigences

Parlier francais ;Capacit grer un groupe d''lves actifs qui ont des difficults pendant les priodes non structures.

Capacit maintenir les lves actifs tout en conservant un environnement ferme, quitable, ludique et sr.

Conformment la loi 94, les nouveaux employs doivent se conformer la rglementation relative au port de symboles religieux sur le lieu de travail.
