Our financial services client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst (10+ years) with a strong data and technical acumen to support investment accounting and performance reporting initiatives across enterprise investment systems.

This role goes beyond traditional business analysisrequiring a hands-on professional who can bridge business requirements with data engineering and technical solutioning .
You will deliver end-to-end analysis, data insights, and system improvements while contributing to data pipelines, validation frameworks, and reporting architecture .
Contract | Toronto | 4 days onsite/week Must Haves 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within capital markets or asset management Strong experience supporting investment accounting and performance measurement systems Proven experience working with large, complex datasets and translating business needs into technical/data solutions Advanced hands-on experience with SQL (complex queries, data transformation, troubleshooting) Experience working closely with data engineers, developers, and architects (or performing light engineering tasks yourself) Strong understanding of data flows, data models, and system integrations within investment platforms Experience with total portfolio performance reporting , ideally within a pension or institutional asset management environment Proficiency with Excel and BI tools (e.g., Power BI) for data analysis, visualization, and reporting Deep understanding of investment lifecycles across public and private asset classes Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field Nice to Have Hands-on experience with ETL processes, data pipelines,
or data warehousing concepts Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake) or modern data stack tools Experience working with investment platforms such as Eagle, Sim
Corp Dimension, Bloomberg Experience in a pension fund or institutional investment setting Exposure to data engineering tools (Python, Spark, dbt, etc.) CPA, CFA (or working toward designation) Experience with data governance, reconciliation frameworks, and performance attribution Proven track record in automation, data quality improvement, and process optimization initiatives Responsibilities Lead and support multiple concurrent initiatives across investment accounting and performance reporting platforms Gather, document, and translate business and data requirements into technical specifications and scalable solutions Act as a bridge between business, data engineering, and technology teams , ensuring requirements are implementable and aligned with architecture Perform hands-on data analysis , including writing complex SQL queries, validating datasets, and troubleshooting data issues Support and contribute to data pipeline design, data transformations, and integration workflows Drive data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance for total portfolio performance reporting Design, build, and enhance dashboards and reporting solutions using SQL and BI tools Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and improved data architecture Assist with system integrations, data mapping, and technical troubleshooting Develop comprehensive documentation including business requirements, data lineage, process flows, and technical specifications Key Profile Summary We are looking for a hybrid Business Analyst who: Thinks like a data engineer / developer Is comfortable getting hands-on with data and systems Can own problems end-to-end from requirements data solution delivery Thrives in a complex investment and reporting environment
