Insurance Defence Associate – Downtown Toronto (Hybrid)

A leading Toronto law firm is seeking an Insurance Defence Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its established insurance litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to work on sophisticated insurance defence , tort , motor vehicle accident (MVA) , personal injury , and civil litigation matters while receiving exceptional mentorship and courtroom experience.

The Role
As an Insurance Defence Lawyer, you will manage a broad litigation practice involving complex insurance claims from inception through resolution. You will work closely with experienced partners while maintaining meaningful responsibility over your own files.

Your practice will include:
Insurance defence litigation
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims
Tort litigation
Personal injury defence
Property damage claims
Coverage-related disputes
Discoveries, mediations, motions, and trials

This position offers significant client contact, strategic file management, and regular courtroom advocacy.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
2–4 years of insurance defence litigation experience.
Experience handling tort and MVA files.
Ability to independently manage litigation matters.
Strong drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
Excellent organizational and client management abilities.
Membership in positive standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Candidates with experience representing insurers, whether in private practice or in-house, are encouraged to apply.
