Physical Education Teacher – 1.0 FTE - Temporary North High School CampusLocated in Calgary, Foundations for the Future Charter Academy (FFCA) is the largest publiccharter school in Alberta, serving over 4000 students in eight campuses throughout the city. Weoffer educational programming through a distinctive Direct Instruction Teaching and LearningFramework (DITLF) that has been refined and developed within the Alberta context for studentsfrom Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our mission is to provide a safe and caring environment wherethe four pillars of our charter, namely academic excellence, character development, parentalinvolvement and staff leadership are valued and fostered.
The following position will be open at the North High School Campus of Foundationsforthe Future Charter Academy to begin September 18, 2026 until October 30, 2026.
Subject: Grades 10-12 Physical EducationContract: 1.0 FTE TemporaryAn Alberta Education certified teacher is required for a 1.0 FTE assignment at the North HighSchool Campus.Responsibilities:
Competently plan for, provide and assess instruction to students based on TeachingQuality Standards.
Teaching the courses of study and education programs that are prescribed, approved orauthorized pursuant to the Education Act.
Regularly assess student performance and communicate results to students, parents/legal guardians and school administration.
Maintain a safe and caring environment that fosters student learning.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Educator, subject to the teacher’s contract of employment and the Education Act.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the following qualities:
A passion for teaching and learning and a positive, enthusiastic attitude;
A supportive and caring manner with children and a belief that all students can learn;
The ability to provide an inviting and secure classroom environment for students – one with transparent expectations, consistent consequences, and specific, articulated learninggoals;
A belief in a structured learning environment where the results of our collaborative andindividual efforts are monitored and guide the process of continuous improvement;
The ability and desire to deliver the FFCA program effectively in order to meet the needsof all students, while being prepared to meet the individual needs of children as theyarise;
A commitment to using instructional technologies to develop his/her own and students’
An openness to coaching and mentoring as part of overall professional development;
Collegial communication skills, including the ability to listen and the conviction that concerns and ideas need to be presented openly in an atmosphere of trust;
A desire to work in a team environment of partnerships among campus grade-level partners, campus colleagues and cross-campus colleagues, as well as withadministrators and parents;
A willingness to contribute to school culture through committee work and extra-curricularactivities;
A belief in continuous learning and a desire to continuously improve.
