Become a key player in the City of North Vancouver as a Plan Checker 2, focusing on larger commercial and residential building projects. Your expertise will help ensure all plans meet the BC Building Code standards.
In this auxiliary role within the Planning, Development & Real Estate Department, you will undertake plan reviews for complex developments. A significant part of your day will be spent discussing plans with project stakeholders and offering guidance on building codes and municipal bylaws. Additionally, you will assist with training recent plan checking staff and may conduct inspections for minor projects to ensure they comply with city regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and issue permits for large construction projects • Discuss issues and plans with stakeholders • Provide mentorship and training to plan checking team • Conduct inspections of minor permitted works • Ensure alignment with provincial codes and city bylaws
Requirements: • Diploma in Building Technology or equivalent • Significant experience in municipal building inspections • BOABC Level III or in BOIT program • Strong knowledge of building regulations • Proficiency in electronic plan review systems and MS Office
