Title: Payroll Specialist
Contract Length: 6-month
Location: Waterloo, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, ON, CAN (4x in office until September and then 100% in office)

The Opportunity

The Payroll Specialist reports to the Manager, of Americas Payroll and plays a key role within the Global Human Resources function.

In this role, you will join a collaborative team responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll. You will be responsible for payroll data entry, validating and auditing payroll information, preparing payroll reports, and partnering closely with other payroll team members to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.

As part of a global payroll organization, you may also have opportunities to support and gain experience with Canadian payroll. We values payroll professionals who are interested in developing expertise across multiple countries and contributing to a flexible, collaborative team environment.

This position is accountable for delivering exceptional customer service to a broad range of payroll stakeholders, including employees, Human Resources, Finance, and internal Payroll team members, while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and data integrity. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, and a solid understanding of payroll practices, regulations, and compliance.

Delivering exceptional payroll support by responding to employee inquiries and resolving issues within established service level agreements (SLAs).
Ensuring accurate and timely processing for U.S. employees while meeting strict payroll deadlines.
Auditing HR system data and payroll interfaces to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
Reconciling payroll results, identifying discrepancies, and investigating and resolving payroll issues in a timely manner.
Administering Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) payroll transactions, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with applicable policies and regulatory requirements.

What It Takes
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in US and/or Canada Payroll
Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel
Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Robust interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.
Strong issue resolution and critical thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to take initiative.
Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a high level of confidentiality.
Professional certification or membership with the National Payroll Institute (NPI) and PayrollOrg is considered an asset.
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification preferred.
