Job Overview
We are recruiting a surveyor to join our team for various projects throughout Northern Alberta. As a surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting surveys to determine topography and other physical features on a variety of construction and development projects. You will use a range of surveying instruments and techniques to collect accurate data, prepare reports, and provide essential information to support project planning and design
Responsibilities
Perform construction layouts using traditional and advanced surveying equipment and techniques
Gather field data, measurements, and observations, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date for project development and design purposes
Produce detailed survey reports and maps, documenting findings and providing transparent data for team members
Work closely with construction teams to ensure survey data aligns with project requirements and regulatory standards
Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
Assist in the preparation of site layouts, grades, and elevations to guide construction efforts and ensure alignment with project plans
Perform site visits to verify conditions and assist in resolving any discrepancies between survey data and actual site condition
Requirements
Post-secondary education in a related field
5+ years' experience as a surveyor in construction
Proficient in operating and configuring Topcon and Trimble grade control systems and total stations for construction or surveying applications is required
Knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices related to surveying and construction
Excellent ability to analyze and interpret survey data, identify discrepancies, and provide clear recommendations
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, data recording, and report generation
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present survey findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to identify potential issues on-site and provide practical solutions based on survey data
Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test including cannabis
