RN/BSW - Crisis Worker – Mobile Crisis Rapid Response and Emergency Department The mobile crisis worker in conjunction with the Timmins police officerwill provide acute crisis intervention to community members in a timely , client/family focused approach.Emphasis will be placed on assessment, education, prevention, health maintenance,and restoration of health in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. The team will further provide individualized supportto assist in the resolution of their personal or emotional crisis. When required,MCRRT staff will be scheduled to provide crisis intervention services withinthe Emergency Department as part of the internal crisis team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Toprovide acute crisis assessment and intervention.

Effectivelyfunction within the frame work of their respective professional standards.

Toparticipate as a member of MCRRT and work effectively with TPS and other communityagencies.

Completepsycho social assessments and planning for effective intervention strategies.

Conductinterviews with the clients or families in crisis.

Coordinatewith other community agencies in the provision of necessary services.

Toinform community agencies of any changes that may affect them.

Maintainexemplary public relations.

Informour community of resources available to benefit those in crisis.

Providea client focused philosophy in all interactions.

Provideassessment and intervention of psychiatric emergencies, in the community or theemergency department.

Providebrief intervention, consultation and follow-up.

Ableto implement strategies that effectively facilitate change.

Demonstratesleadership skills, sound judgment and diplomacy.

Strongassessment skills and ability to coordinate services.





Comprehensiveknowledge of community mental health and addiction networks.

Strongproblem solving and critical thinking skills.

Computerliteracy with developed skills in various software applications including MS Office,RAI, ESP.

Ableto manage high volumes and varied work assignments with accuracy.

Knowledgeand sensitivity to work in a culturally diverse environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

RegisteredNursing Diploma/Degree with a certificate in Mental Health and/or Bachelor ofSocial Work

Registeredand in good standing with respective regulating body (CNO, CSWSSW)

Minimumof 5 years recent acute Mental Health and Addictions experience.

Demonstratescrisis intervention skills for both telephone and person-to-person situations.

Workingknowledge of inpatient and community-based resources for children and adultswith mental health and addictions needs.

Musthave the ability to function as a member of the multi-disciplinary health careteam.

Mustpossess a thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques associated withCrisis Intervention assessment.

Excellentverbal and written communication skills.

Abilityto elicit critical information in stressful situations and provide rapidassessment to formulate an immediate intervention.

Mustpossess computer skills and knowledge of Meditech and an ability to collectrelevant data and reports.

Employmenthistory which demonstrates regular attendance at work.





Mustbe available to work all shifts including weekends.

Compensationand Benefits

Starting salary is to be determined based on qualificationof the applicant
