This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional who wants more than compliance administration. You'll be highly visible on the manufacturing floor, driving safety initiatives, coaching employees and supervisors, leading investigations, and helping shape the next phase of the company's safety function.

Your current role
Reporting to senior leadership, you'll play a key role in strengthening workplace safety across a unionized manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on position where you'll spend significant time on the production floor identifying risks, supporting employees, and ensuring best-in-class safety practices are followed.
You'll also take ownership of WSIB administration, Joint Health & Safety Committee activities, incident investigations, audits, compliance initiatives, and training programs.
As the safety function grows, you'll have the opportunity to help build the team, including potential future oversight of additional safety resources.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and support compliance with Ontario OHSA requirements, WSIB obligations, and internal safety policies
Maintain a strong daily presence on the manufacturing floor to identify hazards and promote safe work practices
Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while leading root cause analysis and corrective actions
Manage WSIB claims administration, modified work programs, and return-to-work processes
Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, workplace inspections, and action tracking
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across operational areas
Collaborate with operational leaders to improve safety performance and reduce workplace incidents
Support employee safety training, hazard awareness, PPE compliance, and lockout/tagout procedures
Assist with emergency preparedness programs, fire drills, environmental initiatives, and regulatory compliance reporting
Monitor performance metrics and provide recommendations to drive continuous improvement
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this very important role, you should have strong past experience of dealing with unionized environments, you're tough but fair when it comes to dealing with difficult situations.
As well as:
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
5+ years of Health & Safety experience within an Ontario manufacturing environment
Experience working in a unionized operation
Strong knowledge of OHSA regulations, Ministry of Labour requirements, and WSIB processes
Proven experience managing workplace investigations, inspections, and corrective action programs
Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to build credibility on the production floor
JHSC Certification (Parts 1 & 2) is considered a strong asset
Living within 80 km of the plant site
