Job Summary:

The Senior Applications Architect will lead the architecture and technology strategy for the MLITSD 360 platform and its sub-projects. This role involves designing and managing application architectures in a large, distributed, cross-platform environment, with a focus on cloud-native microservice architectures using Tanzu. The architect will collaborate with stakeholders to define solutions, ensure compliance with government standards, and provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including post-implementation support. Responsibilities:

- Lead overall architecture and technology strategy for MLITSD 360 platform and sub-projects.
- Develop, recommend, implement, and manage application architecture including hardware, software, database, and communications.
- Design and manage microservice architecture on the Tanzu platform.
- Provide input on cloud costing, licensing, and budget optimization.
- Define application architecture requirements and obtain management approvals.
- Deliver architectural artifacts to meet Ontario Government architecture standards.
- Conduct in-depth architecture reviews and assessments to support enterprise initiatives.
- Develop and maintain application architectural policies and standards.
- Provide architecture expertise and advice to project teams, management, and external contractors.
- Lead sensitive architecture investigations and ensure integration with corporate policies.
- Participate in solution selection, design meetings, and review architecture quality.
- Resolve technical and system issues with clients and teams.
- Assist in IT project management and provide knowledge transfer to Ministry staff.
- Provide post-implementation support.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- Leadership experience in application architecture development and implementation.
- Solid facilitation skills engaging multiple stakeholders including security, privacy, and accessibility.




- Extensive experience with cloud-native technologies, especially Azure App Services and RESTful APIs.
- Deep knowledge of microservice architecture using containers, specifically Tanzu (formerly Pivotal Cloud Foundry).
- Experience with multiple platforms, operating systems (e.g., Solaris, Windows), databases (e.g., MS SQL), programming languages (Java, C#, JavaScript), and communication protocols.
- Expertise in structured methodologies for application design, development, and implementation.
- Experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools such as PowerDesigner and Visio.
- Proven ability in cloud security and securing cloud workloads.
- Experience leading architecture for hybrid deployments across on-premise and multiple cloud providers.
- Knowledge of public sector IT standards and enterprise architecture governance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Experience working in Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps automation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with platforms such as Mid-Tier and Mobile.
- Familiarity with Linux operating system and Azure SQL, PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online and on-premises deployments.
- Knowledge of cloud networking design including virtual networks, subnets, network peering, and web application firewalls.
- Experience with API management and REST API design.
- Experience in large enterprise or public sector architecture governance committees.
- Strong presentation and documentation skills.
