Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, and designers while overseeing the development and delivery of complex industrial equipment and systems. This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure engineering projects are executed efficiently and meet quality, performance, safety, and cost objectives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting product development, manufacturing operations, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the equipment lifecycle, from concept through deployment and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Conduct performance reviews, support employee development, and participate in hiring and onboarding activities.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, design practices, and quality requirements.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the mechanical design and development of industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Ensure designs meet operational, safety, quality, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
- Support new product development initiatives, including prototyping, testing, and product validation activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to improve product quality, reduce costs, and optimize production processes.
- Work with customers and internal stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with electrical, controls, process, manufacturing, and service teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and technical proposal development.
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering change management activities.
- Provide technical guidance during fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Support troubleshooting efforts related to product performance, manufacturing issues, and field service requests.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and product designs.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration.
- 5+ years of engineering leadership or people-management experience.
- Experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing, industrial equipment, or engineered products environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, product development, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD tools and engineering design review processes.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management, ERP systems, and engineering documentation practices.




- Experience conducting design reviews, risk assessments, and change management activities.
- Robust understanding of industrial equipment safety requirements and applicable engineering standards.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with custom-engineered equipment, machinery, or industrial systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and field service activities.
- Exposure to multi-site or international engineering environments.
- Experience driving engineering standardization and process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with manufacturing operations, fabrication, machining, or assembly environments.

Work Environment

This role is based primarily in a manufacturing and engineering environment, providing direct exposure to the full lifecycle of engineered products, from concept and design through production, testing, installation, and ongoing support. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams and may involve occasional travel to customer sites, suppliers, or project locations. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Delta, BC. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $160000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Workplace Type
