Job Summary:
The Test Lead - Senior is responsible for leading and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure the quality and performance of software applications. This role involves collaborating with product managers, product owners, and technical teams to develop and implement test plans across various testing phases and types, including manual and automated testing. The position requires strong expertise in quality assurance, defect management, and agile methodologies, with a focus on compliance to standards such as AODA. The candidate must work onsite three days per week, supporting projects aligned with government priorities. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, product owners, and technical teams to develop test strategies and plans.
- Develop manual test scripts, test cases, and test scenarios.
- Plan and create test data relevant to each test phase.
- Execute various testing types including integration, functional, regression, unit, load, performance, and accessibility testing.
- Organize testing efforts for front-end and back-end application components.
- Communicate test results regularly through detailed reports.
- Implement project technical testing strategies and methodologies, including non-functional requirements.
- Evaluate test results against acceptance criteria to confirm sprint completion.
- Record defects with detailed documentation in defect tracking tools.
- Participate in elicitation sessions, sprint reviews, and walkthrough meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the agile development lifecycle.
- Conduct post-release and post-implementation testing activities.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with at least one programming language.
- Proficiency in information retrieval packages.
- Strong understanding of testing methods in object-oriented environments.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
- Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) regulations and standards.
- Experience planning and organizing testing for large and small systems.
- Ability to code automated test scripts and develop automated test cases.
- Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf Applications (COTS).
- Expertise with SQL/PLSQL tools for data extraction and analysis.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent defect and test management tools.
- Solid knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Experience working in Agile environments and using Agile Scrum methodology.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Katalon Studio or equivalents.
- Hands-on skills with Java-based UI and backend testing.
- Familiarity with vulnerability testing and performance load testing tools.
- Experience developing end-to-end data migration ETL test plans and integration workflows.
- Business analysis experience in cloud environments, including requirements gathering and user story development.
- Experience with AODA testing tools like JAWS or NVDA.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
Special Considerations:
- Candidate must work onsite 3 days per week; schedule subject to manager discretion and policy changes.
- Work involves supporting government-related projects and initiatives.
- Position requires adherence to strict quality assurance and testing standards.
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Scheduling:
- Hybrid work model with mandatory 3 days onsite per week.
- Work schedule aligned with agile sprint cycles and project timelines.
- May require participation in meetings and testing activities across varying hours based on project needs.
