ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, Continuing Care & Palliative Care Program of NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites applications for a full-time Physiatrist at the L.A. Miller Centre in St. John's, NL.

The successful candidate will provide services to the Rehabilitation,



Geriatrics, Continuing Care & Palliative Care Program. Primary clinical workload will involve the medical care of inpatients and outpatients, including consultations, follow-up visits, and ongoing care. The Physician will share equitably the inpatient and outpatient care for Physiatry services and participate in the on-call rota with the team.

Opportunities for participation in postgraduate medical teaching and responding to requests from other members of the hospital staff to provide education are available when clinical duties permit.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R;) or eligibility for certification
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES





- Provide comprehensive Physiatry services including inpatient and outpatient consultations, follow-up visits, and ongoing care
- Share equitably the inpatient and outpatient care for Physiatry services with the team
- Participate in the on-call rota shared equitably among team members
- Participate in postgraduate medical teaching and education as clinical duties permit
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, Continuing Care & Palliative Care team
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

As per Memorandum of Agreement

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador. Starting salary will be based on years of clinical experience.
