The Heavy Equipment Operator safely and efficiently operates dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment to support mineral exploration, earthworks, and site development projects. This role is responsible for activities such as grading, excavation, drill pad and access road construction, clearing, and site preparation while maintaining equipment, identifying hazards, and ensuring all work is performed in accordance with safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

Compensation & Schedule
$35.00-$39.00 per hour
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.
Schedule: Work 14 days on / 14 days off rotation with 12-hour shifts, as required.
Responsibilities
Equipment Operation & Production
- Operate D7-class dozers, excavators, and other assigned heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Construct drill pads, sumps, access roads, and perform general earthworks.
- Carry out grading, excavation, clearing, site preparation, and material movement activities.
- Follow site plans, project specifications, and direction from supervisors.
- Monitor site conditions and adjust work methods to maintain productivity and safety.
Equipment Care & Maintenance
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and operating condition.
- Operate equipment in a manner that minimizes wear and damage.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
- Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, and site hazards.
- Ensure safe work practices when operating around other equipment and crews.
- Immediately report injuries, incidents, hazards, and near misses.
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and fellow operators.
- Support project schedules and operational objectives.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment while remaining self-motivated and accountable.
Qualifications
- Experience operating dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment in mining, mineral exploration, heavy civil, forestry, or earthworks environments.
- Strong commitment to safety, hazard awareness, and safe work practices in active industrial settings.
- Ability to work efficiently and adapt to changing terrain, weather, and project conditions.
- Proven communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and reliability skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Experience with drill pad construction, access roads, sumps, and related exploration infrastructure, along with relevant safety certifications, is considered an asset.
