Title: Bilingual Visitor Information Counselor – Temporary Clerk (8-month term)
Salary: $2,056.78 bi-weekly | $53,659.28 annually

Description:

The City of Fredericton is seeking an enthusiastic Bilingual Visitor Information Counselor for its Tourism Division.

Reporting to the Senior Programming & Operations Lead of the Tourism & Events Division, the Bilingual Visitor Information Counselor will promote and showcase the City of Fredericton as a tourism destination. The ability to fluently communicate verbally in both English and French is essential.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a team environment while also exercising independent judgment, initiative, and creativity. They must be able to interact effectively with the public and members of the tourism industry in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner.

Essential

To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate the following:

- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in tourism-based sales and promotions and/or tourism-based customer service.
- Ability to fluently communicate verbally in both official languages (English and French).
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
- Valid Class V Driver's License.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered where they provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential duties of the position.

- Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, certificate) in Marketing, Business Administration, Arts, Tourism, or in a related field.
- Strong customer service skills.

- Well-developed and concise oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in reading and writing in both official languages.

- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, methods, and equipment.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

- Be the main point of contact at the Fredericton Visitor Information Centre, welcoming and aiding trip planning for visitors.
- Daily management of telephone, e-mail, and walk-in requests for information as required.
- Assist visitors and the public, in general, with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Administrative support to a busy office.
- Maintain databases and data entry.




- Assist with Garrison Operations, working with third party event planners & festivals taking place in the Historic Garrison District.
- Perform all other related duties as required and assigned.
