Project Overview: Seeking an experienced framing carpenter or small crew to construct the structural skeleton and roof for a new front porch in Ottawa (K2L). This project will be fully permitted through the city, and I will be acting as the project manager as the homeowner. I am looking for a quote on structural labor and framing materials only. I will handle all final finish work (surface decking installation, railings, and staining) myself. Project Specifications:Footprint: 20 ft. wide by 8ft. deep if it optimizes lumber cuts/joist staging). Will be roofed as well. Foundation: Open to contractor input—either traditional 4ft deep concrete frost footings or engineered helical screw piles (can be subbed out separately if needed).Roof Structure: 9 ft. high (at house wall) shed-style/lean-to roof tied into the home’s framing via a ledger board. Framed, sheathed with plywood, and shingled/flashed to match the existing house.Support:



Structural wood posts and a main carrying beam sized to code for local snow loads. Scope of Work Requested (Contractor):Dig and pour footings (or coordinate with a pile installer).Install house ledger board, structural posts, carrying beam, and floor joists.Frame the shed roof structure, install plywood sheathing, ice/water shield, shingles, and wall flashing.Build structural steps down to grade. Note: Leave the floor joists open and the roof posts bare. I will install the deck boards and railings. Requirements: Must be fully insured (WSIB and liability, or personal health and life perks)and experienced with Ontario Building Code (OBC) requirements for structural snow loads.
