Build work you'll be proud of.
At Pioneer Craftsmen, we don’t build houses. We transform them.
We specialize in high-quality residential renovations where every project is different, every detail matters, and our reputation is built one client at a time. Renovating an existing home also means dealing with unexpected conditions, interconnected decisions, and details that need to work with what is already there.
Our team believes in three simple principles:
Design. Guide. Build.
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys solving complex renovation challenges, and leads by example. This isn’t production work or rough framing. It’s thoughtful renovation work where quality, communication, sound judgment, and attention to detail matter every day. You help guide the work on-site by anticipating problems, interacting with clients, and helping turn the design into practical execution. If you’re the type of carpenter who notices when a reveal is off, enjoys finding creative solutions, and wants to mentor the next generation of tradespeople, we’d love to talk.
What You'll Do
As a Lead Carpenter, you'll be responsible for leading projects from the job site while working closely with our Project Managers, Designers, Clients, Apprentices, and Trade Partners.
You'll be trusted to:
- Lead residential renovation projects safely and efficiently
- Produce high-quality finish carpentry: install cabinetry, trim, doors, hardware and custom details with precision
- Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers and trade partners
- Mentor Apprentices and help them develop their skills
- Maintain an organized, safe, and professional job site
- Work with the Project Manager and Designer to translate the design into practical execution
- Identify problems early and develop practical solutions
- Keep projects moving while maintaining our quality standards
- Build strong relationships with clients through professionalism and communication
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- 2+ years of residential carpentry experience
- Experience leading renovation projects or crews
- Strong finish carpentry and renovation skills
- Proficiency in reading plans and specifications
- Valid driver's licence with reliable transportation
You'll Be a Great Fit If...
You probably enjoy this work if you:
- Take pride in the small details others overlook.
- Believe "good enough" usually isn't.
- Communicate openly and respectfully.
- Treat clients' homes as if they were their own.
- Leads with integrity.
- Enjoy building exceptional work—not just completing another job
Why Pioneer Craftsmen?
We're a team of designers, project managers, carpenters, and trade partners who genuinely enjoy working together.
We offer:
- Competitive hourly wage
- Profit sharing program
- Health spending account, heathy living and education allowance

Ready to Build Something Better?
If you're passionate about craftsmanship, enjoy leading others, and want to be part of a team that values quality over shortcuts, we'd love to hear from you!
During the interview process, we'll ask you to walk us through your work and how you approached the challenges on those projects.
Please be prepared to submit photos of your work and talk to projects you’ve contributed to upon request.
