Salmon Arm Secondary

This is a temporary assignment effective immediately to June 30, 2027 or to return of teacher to full contractual FTE whichever comes first.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Arts or Education (Secondary emphasis preferred);
- valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:
- demonstrated successful experience teaching at the Secondary level;
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the B.C. Career-Life Education curriculum, including career-life planning, mentorship, employability skills, personal networking, workplace expectations, and connections with community;
- demonstrated ability to use a variety of instructional, assessment, and student-centered strategies that support students in identifying their interests, strengths, competencies, goals, and career-life opportunities;




- demonstrated ability to support students in developing and maintaining meaningful career-life plans, including exploring post-secondary, employment, trades, apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, volunteer, and other career-life opportunities
- computer skills and the ability to learn and use My Blueprint and the MYED BC Student Information System is required;
- ability to work well with the entire range of students in a wide variety of career-oriented areas;
- ability to relate well to parents and students;
- commitment to fostering a collaborative and cooperative working environment;
- committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
- excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment with other staff members;
- commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children.
