ACCOUNTS PAYABLE AND PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR

KNRLP provides forestry, road construction and maintenance, civil construction, mining support, equipment, sawmilling, and other industrial services throughout northern British Columbia.
THE OPPORTUNITY
KNRLP is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable and Payroll Administrator for its Prince George office.
The successful candidate will support accounts payable, payroll, benefits, and financial administration for employees and projects operating in Prince George, Fort Ware, and remote locations. This position requires sound judgment, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to meet regular financial and payroll deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process full-cycle accounts payable, including reviewing, coding, and entering invoices and expense claims.
- Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, receiving records, and approvals; reconcile supplier statements; prepare payment batches; and resolve discrepancies.
- Administer company credit-card documentation, coding, approvals, and reconciliations.
- Review timesheets, leave records, overtime,
travel time, allowances, and project or equipment coding for completeness and authorization.
- Process and reconcile payroll, maintain employee payroll records, and coordinate approved corrections or off-cycle payments.
- Process approved new hires, wage changes, perks enrolments, leaves, terminations, and Records of Employment.
- Assist with payroll remittances, benefits and pension reconciliations, WorkSafeBC reporting, T4 preparation, year-end requirements, and audits.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records and respond professionally to employee, supervisor, and vendor inquiries.
- Support month-end reporting, project costing, and other financial-administration duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of recent experience in accounts payable, payroll, bookkeeping, or a related financial-administration role.
- Working knowledge of payroll and accounts-payable controls, confidential recordkeeping, and document retention.
- Robust attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies, follow up on outstanding information, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Professional communication skills, sound judgment, discretion, and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education or training in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience with ADP payroll and Sage Intacct accounting software, including project, equipment, and job-cost coding.
- Payroll Compliance Professional designation, related training, or experience with benefits, pensions, Records of Employment, WorkSafeBC reporting, audits, and year-end payroll.
- Experience in construction, forestry, mining support, remote operations, or a First Nations-owned company or organization.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This position is based in KNRLP’s Prince George office. Additional hours may occasionally be required during payroll, month-end, or year-end.
- Occasional travel to Fort Ware or project locations may be required.
