Position: AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector – Level 2
Employment Type: On-Call / Part-Time, with potential for additional work

About Aegis Inspection Ltd.
- Aegis Inspection Ltd. is an Alberta-based third-party inspection company providing NDE, welding inspection, QA/QC and inspection services to industrial, structural steel and fabrication clients.
We are currently looking for an experienced AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP) Level 2 to join our team in the Edmonton area. This position will initially be on-call, providing coating inspection services as project requirements arise. Following an initial three-month period, there is potential for additional scheduled and fill-in work, depending on performance, availability and project demand.
Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional third-party coating inspection and QA/QC services, including:
- Performing AMPP CIP Level 2 coating inspections in shop and field environments.
- Inspecting surface preparation and cleanliness.
- Monitoring and documenting environmental conditions.
- Inspecting coating application and workmanship.
- Performing dry film thickness (DFT) measurements.
- Verifying coating systems and application requirements against project specifications.
- Identifying, documenting and reporting deficiencies and non-conformances.
- Completing daily inspection reports, checklists and other required documentation.
- Reviewing coating inspection records and quality documentation.
- Participating in inspection hold points and witness points.
- Reviewing applicable specifications, procedures and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Communicating inspection findings with clients, contractors and project personnel.
- Performing QA/QC and quality audits as required.
- Assisting with contractor and subcontractor audits.
- Supporting client audits and project quality reviews.
- Performing additional inspection and QA/QC duties within the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The initial three months will primarily be on-call inspection work in the Edmonton area. Following this initial period, the successful candidate may be provided with additional opportunities including:
- Scheduled coating inspection work.
- Fill-in inspection coverage.
- QA/QC audits.
- Coating and corrosion-related audits.
- Quality documentation review.
- Contractor/subcontractor audits.
- Shutdown and turnaround inspection support.
- Additional Aegis inspection projects.
- Increased hours as project demand develops.
This position is well suited for an experienced inspector looking for flexible on-call work with the potential to develop into a more consistent workload.
Required Qualifications:
- Current AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP) Level 2 certification.
- Previous industrial coating inspection experience.
- Strong understanding of coating inspection practices and requirements.
- Ability to interpret project specifications and coating requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to complete professional inspection reports independently.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and represent Aegis Inspection Ltd. professionally.
Preferred:
- Experience in oil & gas, pipeline, structural steel, fabrication or industrial environments.
- Previous QA/QC auditing experience.
- Experience developing or working with ITPs.
- Experience reviewing quality documentation.
- Additional NDE/NDT certifications.
- CWB, CGSB, API or other recognized inspection certifications.
- Experience with applicable CSA, ASME and AMPP standards.
- Previous third-party inspection experience.
