We are seeking a agile and safety-conscious AZ Truck Driver with 2 to 3 years experience with a Class 1 license to join our transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a heavy-duty truck to transport freight across various routes within Halifax/Dartmouth, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and compliance. Your expertise in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, will be essential to keep our operation running smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial truck to transport freight over short distances, for pickup and delivery, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and cargo securement
- Possibly load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols are followed
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, including delivery logs, freight manifests, and inspection reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability and safety during operations
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment as required for loading or unloading freight
Skills
- Valid AZ Class 1 commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Proven 2-3 years experience in commercial driving and freight transportation
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting common vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and freight handling
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records
