How you will make a difference:
This position is a temporary contract opportunity for 7 months.
As the first point of contact for HR-related matters across our Canadian and the US retail locations, the HR Coordinator plays a key role in supporting our store teams and ensuring compliance with employment legislation. In this dynamic and fast-faced role, you'll support employee relations, leaves of absence, workplace health and safety, and employment compliance, with a particular focus on supporting our Quebec locations and French-speaking employees.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, workplace concerns, leaves of absence, and general employment matters across Canada and the USA
- Support employee relations matters,
including conducting workplace investigations and assisting with conflict resolution, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations in partnership with the HR team
- Administer and monitor various leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and state laws
- Support workplace injury and claims processes, with a particular focus on CNESST claims in Quebec, including incident reporting, claims submission and follow-up, and coordinating safe and timely return-to-work plans
- Support Quebec-specific compliance initiatives, including the Quebec French Language Committee and Quebec Pay Equity Committee
- Support health and safety programs across all locations, including training coordination (e.g., First Aid, JHSC), maintaining health and safety boards, responding to workplace safety concerns or inspections, and participation in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities at the corporate office
- Coordinate workplace accommodation and modified duty requests, including gathering required information, working with employees and Operations, and assisting with return-to-work planning
- Respond to external agency inquiries such as Unemployment Insurance Benefit claims (USA), Service Canada requests, and support the resolution of employment-related matters involving regulatory inspections, workplace complaints, and other compliance reviews
- Prepare documentation for store closures in accordance with relevant legislation
- Maintain compliance with labour law posting requirements across US store locations
- Manage job postings for Quebec and provide backup recruitment support as needed,
including job postings for other locations, employment verifications, background checks, and business reference checks
- Assist with onboarding and orientation of new hires and internal transfers at Head Office
- Contribute to HR policy updates, communications, manuals, and special projects as assigned
What You’ll Need:
- 1-2 years of HR experience
- Bilingual in English and French
- Spanish is an asset
- Excellent computer skills with solid working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- US employee relations experience an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure
- Well-organized, detail oriented, with ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Acts with integrity and maintains a high level of confidentiality
