About the Role

Heritage Skills Development Centre (HSDC) is seeking an experienced and community-oriented dedicated individual with good knowledge in Small Business Development, Financial, Business Management, Marketing, and Brand Management experience to guide and monitor youths undertaking Business and Marketing Skills.

This role is central to supporting racialized and marginalized youth to transform their business ideas into viable, structured business plans. The ideal candidate brings expertise in business development and lived or professional experience working with underserved communities.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Program Design & Preparation

- Collaborate with HSDC staff to co-develop culturally relevant training materials, including curriculum, business workshop materials, presentations, templates, and activities tailored to youth entrepreneurs

2. Workshop Facilitation ● Deliver interactive, practical workshops on:

- Business plan development, including market research and feasibility, operations, marketing, financials, sales strategies, building partnerships, etc.
- Value proposition design and business modelling
- Business registration processes and documentation
- Pitch development and storytelling
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment using hands-on exercises, case studies, and group activities
- Ensure content is accessible and relevant to diverse, racialized, and newcomer youth

3. Coaching & Mentorship ● Provide one-on-one and small group coaching to support youth in refining their business ideas and plans

● Guide youth through developing complete, viable business plans and pitch decks

● Offer ongoing feedback,



encouragement, and accountability to build participant confidence and readiness

● Support youth in preparing for their final business plan presentations

● Assist in coordinating and facilitating the final pitch event, including presentation flow and participant readiness.

● Complete participant progress evaluations and contribute to program monitoring.

4. Collaboration & Ongoing Support

● Work closely with the Project Coordinator, mentors, and evaluator to ensure effective program delivery and continuous improvement

● Provide recommendations for strengthening curriculum and participant outcomes

● Support referrals and guidance related to business registration, funding opportunities, and next steps post-program

Qualifications & Skills

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or a related field

● Demonstrated experience in small business development or entrepreneurship training

● Ability to communicate well with a diverse population and various learning abilities

● Solid knowledge of:

- Business planning and commercialization
- Business legal structures
- Business finance, budgeting, bookkeeping, and basic accounting
- Marketing, branding, and customer acquisition strategies

● Experience facilitating workshops and coaching youth ● Strong presentation, and public speaking skills

● Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments

● Experience working within community-based or nonprofit programs

● Experience with coaching, investor readiness, or startup support is a strong asset

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 per hour
