Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Full-time · Remote · Mississauga, ON

Company Description The company operates a managed marketplace focused on home services, connecting customers with vetted service providers through a streamlined platform. It is designed to simplify the process of finding, booking, and managing a wide range of home services. By overseeing quality, pricing, and service standards, the marketplace aims to deliver a reliable and efficient experience for both customers and providers.

The platform is preparing for launch in the Greater Toronto Area, with a phased expansion plan across additional Canadian metros to follow. The organization emphasizes operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and scalable growth in the home services sector.

Role Description The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON, responsible for building and leading the marketing function across both sides of the marketplace: customer demand and service provider supply. The CMO will own brand, positioning, and the go-to-market strategy that takes the platform from pre-launch to a live, growing business in its first city, and will build the repeatable city launch playbook used for subsequent market entries.

This is a hands-on, build-from-zero role. The CMO will define the acquisition mix across paid, organic, lifecycle, partnerships, and field channels; own customer acquisition cost, retention, and marketing-attributed contribution; and stand up the analytics and attribution infrastructure needed to make spend decisions with confidence. The CMO works closely with the CEO, CTO,

and operations leadership to align demand generation with provider capacity, service quality, and unit economics.

Key Responsibilities

Own the go-to-market strategy for launch and for each subsequent metro, including a documented, repeatable city launch playbook.

Build two-sided growth: customer acquisition and repeat booking on the demand side, and service provider recruitment and activation on the supply side, sequenced so that neither outpaces the other.

Define and manage the full acquisition mix — performance marketing, SEO and content, lifecycle and CRM, referral, partnerships, PR, and local and field marketing — against clear CAC and payback targets.

Own brand strategy, positioning, and messaging that differentiate a managed marketplace from lead-generation directories, and establish the trust signals that drive conversion in home services.

Set and manage the marketing budget; report on CAC, LTV, payback period, channel contribution, and cohort retention to the executive team and board.

Stand up marketing analytics, attribution, and experimentation infrastructure in partnership with engineering.

Lead website, app store, and conversion rate optimization across the customer and provider funnels.

Build and mentor the marketing team from an early base, hiring in step with growth and city expansion.

Partner with operations to ensure demand generation is matched to provider capacity and service quality standards in every active market.

Qualifications

Proven senior marketing leadership experience in a marketplace, consumer technology, or services-based organization, with demonstrated results taking a product to market.

Track record of building growth from an early or pre-launch stage, not solely optimizing an established marketing engine.

Robust performance marketing expertise with direct ownership of CAC, LTV, payback, and budget across paid and organic channels.

Experience marketing to both consumers and small business or contractor audiences is a strong asset.

Advanced analytical skills, including attribution modelling, cohort analysis, and structured experimentation.

Experience in local or multi-market launches, with the ability to build playbooks that transfer across cities.

Strong brand and creative judgment, with the ability to direct content, design, and agency partners.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, including comfort presenting to investors and the board.

Demonstrated ability to build and mentor high-performing teams.

- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset.
