Chronicle Coffee Roasters is opening Q.lab Coffee in Toronto, and we’re looking for an exceptional barista to join us.

Q.lab is more than a traditional café. It is our coffee tasting showroom and a space designed around specialty coffee, education, hospitality, and the craft of coffee. As we establish Q.lab in Toronto, we’re looking for a highly skilled, passionate barista who wants to grow in the specialty coffee scene.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a highly skilled barista who is looking for a full-time career in coffee. We are looking for someone who is confident behind the machine, passionate about specialty coffee, and understands that excellent coffee is only part of great hospitality.

You’ll be responsible for preparing exceptional espresso, pour overs and sharing the story of coffee, engaging with customers, maintaining high standards of quality, and helping create the Q.lab experience in Toronto. Your wage will also include tips, allowing for higher earnings as revenue grows.

This is an opportunity to become an important part of our Toronto team and have a direct influence on how Q.lab grows.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Strong specialty coffee and espresso experience
- Advanced espresso preparation and dialing-in skills
- Excellent milk steaming and latte art skills
- Strong understanding of extraction, grind adjustment, and brewing fundamentals
- Experience working with commercial espresso equipment
- A genuine passion for coffee and willingness to continue learning
- Exceptional attention to detail and consistency
- Strong communication and customer-service skills




- Ability to work independently while being part of a growing team
- Someone who takes pride in their workspace, equipment, and craft
- Previous specialty coffee experience is mandatory

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Prepare espresso and specialty coffee to a consistently high standard
- Dial in and maintain espresso throughout the day
- Prepare milk-based beverages and showcase strong latte art
- Prepare pour overs and batch-brewed coffee
- Educate customers about coffee, brewing, and our coffees
- Provide an exceptional and welcoming customer experience
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the café
- Assist with coffee tastings, cuppings, and educational experiences
- Help establish and maintain Q.lab’s service standards
- Provide training’s and coffee knowledge to our wholesale clients
- Work alongside the Chronicle Coffee team as we grow our Toronto presence
