We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Systems & UX Consultant (Figma) for a 6-month contract role located full-time in-office in Guelph, Ontario . ( Note: the onsite requirements are not negotiable , only candidates within a reasonable commute to Guelph should apply)

In this role, you will help transform existing design assets into a scalable, well-governed design system and develop a high-fidelity prototype for an upcoming digital project. This is an opportunity to establish design foundations that support future product development while improving consistency, efficiency, accessibility, and overall user experience. As a hands-on consultant, you will lead design system migration, UX prototyping, stakeholder facilitation, and internal team enablement to establish Figma as the standard design and prototyping platform.

Responsibilities

- Assess existing design assets, design systems, and current design practices.
- Migrate and structure the design system within Figma, including reusable components, libraries, variables, design tokens, and documentation.
- Establish scalable governance practices, naming conventions, team workflows, and maintenance processes to support ongoing use.
- Configure and organize the Figma environment to support collaboration, consistency, and long-term sustainability.
- Create user flows, wireframes, and interactive high-fidelity prototypes for digital services and web applications.
- Design responsive, accessible, and user-centered experiences that align with accessibility best practices and organizational needs.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to facilitate workshops, validate requirements, and refine solutions through iterative design.
- Support developer handoff and implementation by providing clear design guidance and documentation.
- Deliver training, coaching,



and knowledge transfer activities to build internal Figma and design system capabilities.
- Deliver tangible outputs, including a scalable Figma design system, governance recommendations, comprehensive documentation, and high-fidelity prototypes.

Requirements

- Figma Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, variables, prototyping, and developer handoff workflows.
- Design Systems: Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and migrating design systems or front-end component libraries into Figma.
- UX/UI & Prototyping: Strong UX/UI and product design capabilities with experience creating interactive prototypes for stakeholder review, testing, and requirements validation.
- Accessibility: In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA) and experience designing responsive, mobile-first digital services.
- Collaboration & Handoff: Proven experience collaborating with development teams, supporting implementation activities, and establishing contribution models.
- Facilitation & Leadership: Solid facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead workshops and manage multiple priorities independently.
- Assets: Experience delivering training/coaching programs or working in public-sector, regulated, or accessibility-focused environments is highly desirable.
- Portfolio: Portfolios should showcase relevant design system, UX/UI, or prototyping work.
