Detailed Overview
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, performs a variety of functions with respect to scheduled and demand maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled and demand maintenance on electrical installations and non-biomedical equipment under the department's jurisdiction such as electrical prime movers, switchgear, sterilizer controls, HVAC systems, Power Plant and other related equipment and ensures compliance with codes and safety regulations.
- Installs, modifies, renovates, replaces, repairs, maintains and monitors electrical circuitry of recent and existing building installations and equipment under the department's jurisdiction such as power outlets, light fixtures, fire alarm system, nurse call system and communication systems.
- Assists in projects affecting the existing building, installations and equipment. Liaises with consultants and contractors, reviews drawings and specifications and assures that drawings and plans are updated when changes are made.
- Maintains and administers inventory and spare parts and tools and assures that sufficient parts are available for emergency operation of buildings, installations and equipment.
- Monitors electrical meters, and records consumption and power factor. Completes related reports and records as required.
- Assigns work tasks to Maintenance Workers and provides related training and orientation.
- Performs emergency removal of snow and ice from entrances, walkways and service driveways for safety of visitors and staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and ExperienceCertificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of British Columbia. Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
