Community Disability Services Worker

Position Summary The Community Disability Services Worker (CDSW) is responsible for front-line work that supports the development of skills and relationships to help adults with disabilities work towards and meet their employment goals. CDSW upholds human rights, health, safety and well-being of all people in service and colleagues.

What You’ll Do!

Personal Development: Help participants achieve their employment goals by developing social skills, building their confidence, and having them participate within their community networks.

Building Relationships: Demonstrate personable skills for participant to build relationships with others in the employment program at Chrysalis.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the participants progress, incidents, and service delivery ensuring compliance and relevant regulations and standards at Chrysalis.

Teamwork and Advocacy: Support participant in advocating for themselves and, when necessary, advocate on their behalf to meet their needs with Employment opportunities and issues.

Employment Support: Assist participant with connecting with employers by using networking and community mapping strategies.

What We Need From You!

Knowledge in Disability Support: Proven knowledge in supporting individuals with disabilities, particularly in employment or vocational settings, is highly preferred.

Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with individuals with diverse needs, employers, families, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.

Empathy and Patience: A compassionate approach to working with individuals,



understanding their challenges, and providing supportive guidance.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to develop creative solutions to overcome barriers to employment, advocating for clients’ success in the workplace.

Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage caseloads, document progress, and track outcomes to ensure PAS receive the appropriate services and support.

Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including employers, job coaches, social workers, and other community services.

Skills and Qualifications

Education: Completed diploma in Disabilities studies, or relevant experience years may be considered.

Experience: 6+ months as a direct support worker or relevant experience.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with Google Suite, Word and Excel for documentation, reporting and communication.

Knowledge: Working with adults with disabilities and employment barriers they may face in the community.
