About This Role The Director, ERP & Enterprise Applications is a strategic leadership position responsible for the organization's ERP and enterprise application ecosystem, including the strategy, roadmap, and execution of a major ERP modernization initiative.
This role will lead the development and execution of enterprise application strategy, optimize business processes, and drive operational efficiency through technology. The Director will build and lead a team of ERP and enterprise application professionals, manage vendor and advisory relationships, and collaborate closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, HR, and other business stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating and implementing a modern ERP platform while ensuring alignment between technology investments and broader business objectives.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the overall ERP and enterprise applications strategy, vision, and roadmap, including the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a up-to-date ERP platform.
- Lead and manage a team of ERP and enterprise application professionals responsible for implementation, integration, configuration, and ongoing support.
- Mentor managers and analysts while building technical and functional capabilities within the team.
- Partner with business leaders across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, HR, and other functions to identify technology opportunities that improve processes and efficiency.
- Oversee the design, configuration, maintenance, scalability, and performance of ERP and enterprise application systems.
- Establish and implement data governance and master data management practices in partnership with Data & Analytics teams.
- Identify and lead opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Manage relationships with ERP vendors, systems integrators, and external advisory partners,
including contracts, statements of work, and service-level agreements.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new ERP and enterprise application technologies.
- Collaborate with IT Infrastructure, Security, Data, and other technical teams to ensure effective integration with enterprise systems such as WMS, supply chain planning, reporting/BI, and automation platforms.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business processes supported by ERP and enterprise applications.
- Oversee change management, testing, release management, and user adoption for implementations and upgrades.
- Develop training programs and documentation to support effective system adoption.
- Manage ERP and enterprise application budgets in partnership with Finance.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding technology investments, cost optimization, and operational improvements.
- Monitor emerging ERP and enterprise application technologies and assess their potential business value.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensure timely resolution of system issues.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support system security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Senior leadership experience overseeing ERP and enterprise application functions, preferably at the Director level or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ERP architecture, modules, integrations, and enterprise applications.
- Experience with major ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or similar. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics platforms is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing ERP and enterprise application strategies.
- Required: Proven experience personally leading a full-cycle ERP migration or implementation—from business case development and vendor/SI selection through go-live—as the accountable leader.
- Exceptional leadership and people-management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including experience working with executive leadership.
- Strong project management experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives within scope, budget, and timelines.
- Proven experience managing vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and performance.
- Strong financial acumen, including business case development and evaluation of technology investments.
- Solid understanding of business processes across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing/Production.
- Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, food/agriculture, CPG, or similarly complex operational environment is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- MBA or relevant certifications such as PMP or ERP-specific certifications are considered an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with ERP technologies, enterprise applications, and industry best practices.
