Are you a highly curious, self-motivated Accountant who genuinely loves the precision of full-cycle ledger reconciliations? We are seeking an action-oriented professional who operates with outstanding autonomy and thrives in a collaborative, virtual-first workplace. In this role, you will act as a true problem-solver, bringing a positive, solution-oriented attitude and a deep passion for financial integrity.
If you prefer rolling up your sleeves to own the complete month-end close process for three client entities over simply managing high-level administrative tasks, this chance is designed for you.
Do you bring a structured, detail-oriented approach to data, backed by advanced Excel capabilities? Our ideal candidate is someone who looks at decentralized databases and manual integration workflows as an engaging puzzle to be solved with care and patience. Utilizing your practical mastery of SUMIFS, complex Pivot Tables, and lookups, you will bridge the gap between our core accounting platform and donor management databases.
You take pride in maintaining immaculate general ledgers and ensure that critical reconciliations and audits are executed flawlessly, without frustration over software limitations.
Are you eager to bring your financial expertise to a mission-driven team where your professional development and growth opportunities are actively championed? This permanently remote, 100% virtual position offers standard 7-hour workdays and excellent scheduling flexibility, allowing you to manage your responsibilities with true geographic freedom. You will be joining a supportive, high-integrity culture that values collaboration, accountability, and excellence, providing a structured pathway for you to progress gradually through your CPA designation while receiving comprehensive professional and health-related support.
The Opportunity
On behalf of our client, a prominent, mission-driven provincial healthcare charity operating a highly collaborative, centralized shared-services finance hub, we are seeking an analytical and self-motivated Financial Analyst .
Following a period of successful organizational expansion,
this new position has been created to manage high volumes independently. Reporting directly to the supportive Director of Finance as part of an active six-person team, you will take complete ownership of full-cycle ledger management and strategic reporting for 3 assigned client entities.
Your Core Contributions:
1. Financial Accounting & Ledger Integrity (50% of your time)
- Lead the full-cycle month-end and year-end close processes for your 3 assigned regional organizations.
- Prepare and record accurate adjusting entries, perform robust balance sheet reconciliations, and execute manual data reconciliations to ensure the donor database (Raiser's Edge) and general ledger (Sage Intacct) are in perfect balance.
- Prepare comprehensive audit files and schedules to support clean annual financial statement audits.
2. Reporting, Analysis & Compliance (30% of your time)
- Generate detailed monthly financial statements for client societies accompanied by insightful variance commentary.
- Ensure strict regulatory compliance by preparing quarterly government funding reports and coordinating annual charity compliance filings (T3010), while providing ad-hoc analytical support to regional managers.
3. Budgeting & Peer Support (20% of your time)
- Under the direction of the Director of Finance, assist regional client managers in preparing structured annual budgets, mid-year forecasts, and operational resource plans.
- Act as an active team partner, cross-training and providing reliable backup support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and peer analysts during high-volume periods.
The Ideal Profile: Who You Are
- The Dedicated "Doer": You have an intuitive grasp of basic accounting foundations, a passion for "debits and credits," and a desire to be heavily involved in hands-on transactional work.
You aren't looking to delegate; you are proud to build and maintain pristine books from scratch.
- Exceptionally Autonomous: You thrive in a virtual environment, managing your own tasks and schedules productively with minimal day-to-day oversight. You are highly self-motivated and take proactive responsibility for meeting key accounting cycles.
- Solution-Oriented Problem Solver: When you encounter data discrepancies or system workarounds, you react with patience, resilience, and curiosity. You treat ledger and data reconciliations as engaging puzzles and focus on building robust, reliable solutions.
- Advanced Excel Specialist: You are comfortable processing large, complex datasets. You command SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, and lookups to easily manipulate and integrate financial information from disparate sources.
- Mission-Driven Collaborator: You care deeply about accounting integrity and align with core values of collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence. You enjoy supporting peers and providing AP, AR, and peer analyst backup when necessary.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on financial analysis, client-service bookkeeping, or full-cycle ledger accounting experience. Exposure to multi-entity environments or shared-services structures is highly preferred.
- Technical ERP Savvy: Strong operational proficiency in cloud ERP platforms, specifically Sage Intacct (required). Experience navigating donor databases like Raiser's Edge is a highly valued asset.
- Academic & CPA Tracking: A university degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field. Active enrollment in, or progress toward, a CPA designation (or equivalent foreign credential in positive standing) is heavily favored.
- Analytical Foundations: Flawless knowledge of transactional accounting, internal controls, and balance sheet reconciliation procedures, matched with a structured, detail-oriented workflow.
