KinMeet is an early-stage startup developing web and mobile applications that help people living abroad connect with others from their home country who live nearby.

About the Internship
We are looking for a motivated Full-Stack Developer Intern who wants to gain practical experience contributing to real web and mobile applications.
The successful candidate will work with our existing MERN application, gain exposure to full-stack development, and receive regular guidance and feedback.
The intern will also work alongside an experienced software developer who works for a major technology company in Toronto. This is an opportunity to learn professional development practices while helping build and improve KinMeet’s web and mobile applications.
The internship will provide hands-on experience with modern full-stack and mobile development technologies, including the MERN stack, TypeScript, React Native, real-time communication, authentication, cloud media management, and GitHub-based development workflows.
This is an unpaid internship requiring approximately 5–10 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, and the work can be completed remotely. KinMeet will cover the cost of any software-development tools and services required to complete assigned work. The intern will not be expected to pay for required development tools.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside an experienced software developer
- Help build and improve web and mobile application features
- Contribute to front-end and back-end development
- Create responsive and user-friendly interfaces
- Develop and maintain APIs
- Assist with authentication and account-security features
- Contribute to real-time chat functionality
- Support profile-image uploads and management
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs
- Test new and existing features across the web and mobile applications
- Participate in technical and product discussions
- Document completed work and communicate progress regularly
- Suggest improvements to the applications and development process
Qualifications
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript
- Basic knowledge of front-end and back-end development
- Familiarity with React, React Native, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub
- Interest in web and mobile application development
- Understanding of APIs and software-development fundamentals
- Strong willingness to learn and receive feedback
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Interest in startups and early-stage product development
Preference will be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in a computer science, software engineering, web development, or related college or university program.
Qualified experience is not required. Coursework, personal projects, GitHub repositories, and portfolio projects may be used to demonstrate your abilities.

Important Compensation Information
This is an unpaid internship. No wages, salary, or other financial compensation will be provided. The expected commitment is approximately 5–10 flexible hours per week.
KinMeet will pay for any software-development tools and services required for the intern’s assigned work.
