The Springhill Group of Companies is searching for a self-motivated and experienced Labour Foreman/Material Handler to join our quick-paced Construction Division in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The position is available for full-time, year-round work that involves operating machinery, record keeping, and assisting in the daily ground level activities of a construction site. In addition to having an excellent attention for detail, the ideal candidate is someone who would like to set roots in a firm known for its long-term employee dedication and minimal turnover.

At Springhill, you will play a vital roll in the delivery of various types of Commercial and Institutional Construction projects across the province by:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE ROLE

· Performing self-paced labour tasks as well as looking after a couple assisting labourers.

o Organizing/Maintaining Construction Sites (interior/exterior)

o Managing on-site inventory by identifying, cataloguing, and recording the location of inventory and goods.

o Receiving and unloading inventory as it arrives to site.

· Operating various pieces of equipment, including but not limited to:

o Telehandler (9000lbs)

o Skid Steer o Backhoe

· Assisting the Site Superintendent with material purchasing.

· Completing Daily Maintenance Logs and Safety Checks of equipment.

· Seasonal equipment work (i.e.: snow plowing).

· Following established safe work practices and procedures that comply with the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act’s and Regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

· Commercial construction site experience is a must





· High School diploma or equivalent qualification.

· Trade certification would be considered an asset, but not required.

· Valid Class 5 drivers license required. Class 1 or Class 3 drivers license would be considered an asset.

· Warehouse experience would be considered an asset

Abilities:

- Excellent decision-making skills
- Knowledge and experience with construction practices would be considered an asset
- Must be a self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
- Applicants should be well organized and detail oriented
- Applicants should be able to handle numerous tasks while prioritizing the workload effectively
- Excellent communication skills to maintain good relationships with staff, clients and vendors.

Hours of work

- Variable hours of work with some flexibility with deadlines averaging a 44-hour week.
- Typical hours are 7:00 to 5:00 Monday though Thursday, and 7:00 to 1:00 on Fridays
- Location: Typically Fredericton as a home base but may have to travel/board for potential project sites throughout NB
- Must have own transportation to job site.

POSITION TYPE

- Full-time, hourly
- 2 weeks vacation per year starting out
- Benefit package available after probationary period of 6 months.
- Salary: Negotiated based on qualifications and experience in the current market.
- Must currently reside in Fredericton
