We are looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic / General Laborer to join our trucking operation. The successful applicant will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of highway trucks and heavy-duty flat deck trailers, as well as general shop and yard duties.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong mechanical skills, good problem-solving abilities, and experience working with commercial trucks and heavy-duty trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing of highway trucks and heavy-duty trailers
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine the appropriate repairs
- Repair and replace worn or damaged truck and trailer components
- Replace and service wheel seals, bearings, brakes, drums, and related components
- Perform brake repairs and adjustments on trucks and trailers
- Repair suspension, steering, lighting, and other mechanical components
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues to keep equipment safe and road-ready
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication as required
- Fabricate and repair trailer components, brackets, supports, and other equipment
- Assist with repairs to flat deck trailers and other heavy-duty equipment
- Complete general shop, yard, and labour duties as required
- Assist with loading and unloading trailers in the yard.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and ensure repairs are completed to a high standard
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, or Trailer Mechanic
- Strong knowledge of highway trucks and heavy-duty trailers
- Experience working on flat deck trailers is an asset
- Experience with truck and trailer brake systems and wheel seals
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs independently
- Welding and fabrication experience is required
- Ability to safely use common shop tools and mechanical equipment
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and equipment safety
- Valid driver's licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
