Job Number: 55910Join our team in shaping the future of Edmonton’s urban landscape! We are seeking a dedicated skilled to lead key planning initiatives that directly impact our growing community.This temporary position leads a project to prepare amendments to industrial Area Structure Plans in alignment with the Industrial Investment Action Plan. Working closely with internal teams and external collaborators, you will support the creation or amendment of industrial Area Structure Plans.

You will also review land development applications to evaluate policy alignment and deliver recommendations.What will you do?Support changes to industrial Area Structure Plans under the direction of a Principal Industrial Policy PlannerPropose policy and regulatory document updates that advance corporate growth objectivesMaintain project management tracking tools such as charters, Gantt charts, decision logs, and risk registersPlan, coordinate, and facilitate engagement activities with industrial landowners, industry representatives, and other interested or affected partiesPrepare plan amendment bylaws, council reports, presentations, and plan consolidation documentsSupport the creation of new industrial Area Structure Plans, including drafting policy content and mapsReview industrial land development applications (LDAs) for policy alignment and attend pre-application meetingsFormulate clear recommendations to Planning Coordination and Development ServicesCollaborate across City departments to understand the impacts and trade-offs of proposed policy changesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or a related degree focused on positional functionsMinimum of two (2)



years of related planning experience in land use policy or land development planningAssets:Project Management certification or formal trainingSkills required for success:Policy interpretation and linking strategic direction to municipal implementation toolsStrong collaborative approach to integrate perspectives from diverse collaboratorsEffective engagement strategies when connecting with landowners and members of the publicStrong organizational skills to manage tasks independently, document decisions, and maintain project schedulesClear written communication for preparing reports, bylaws, and presentationsCritical thinking to evaluate trade-offs and resolve complex policy challengesAdaptability in working alongside multi-disciplinary teams across departmentsAlignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusionConditions of Employment:Applicants may be testedWork Environment:Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.
