We are looking for a reliable, caring, and hardworking Kennel Worker to join our team!

If you love dogs, enjoy working in an active environment, and take pride in making sure animals are safe, happy, comfortable, and well cared for, this could be a great opportunity for you.

This is a part-time position with increased hours during peak season. Flexibility and reliability are important.

About the Position

As a Kennel Worker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the dogs staying at our facility. This is a hands-on position that involves animal care, cleaning, feeding, supervising dogs, and maintaining the kennel.

While previous kennel experience is an asset, we are willing to consider applicants who have solid experience caring for dogs and demonstrate the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

- Provide attentive and compassionate care to all dogs in our facility
- Feed dogs according to individual feeding instructions and schedules
- Ensure dogs have fresh, clean water at all times
- Take dogs outside and bring them back inside according to their schedules
- Safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
- Monitor dogs throughout the day for changes in behaviour or wellbeing
- Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, floors, bowls, and common areas
- Pick up and properly dispose of dog waste throughout the day
- Keep the kennel clean, organized, and sanitary
- Refill food, water, cleaning supplies, and other necessary supplies when needed
- Follow individual care instructions for each dog
- Ensure all dogs are safely secured in their designated areas
- Communicate any concerns about a dog’s health, behaviour, or wellbeing to management
- Assist with customer check-ins and check-outs when required

- Help maintain an organized and professional facility
- Complete daily tasks and responsibilities consistently and thoroughly
- Perform other kennel-related duties as required

What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working independently
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Responsible and trustworthy
- Attentive to detail
- Able to follow instructions
- Proactive and willing to take initiative
- Patient and compassionate with animals
- Comfortable handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments
- Comfortable with cleaning and the less glamorous parts of kennel work
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and cleaning throughout a shift
- Flexible with scheduling, especially during peak season

Previous Experience Previous experience working in a kennel is an asset. Experience working with dogs, dog daycare, boarding facilities, veterinary clinics, farms, shelters, grooming facilities, or other animal-care settings is also an asset.

We are also interested in candidates who may not have formal kennel experience but have demonstrated significant experience caring for dogs and are willing to learn.

What Makes a Great Kennel Worker?

Kennel work isn’t just about playing with dogs. Our animals depend on us to make sure their basic needs are met consistently throughout the day.

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of:

- Checking and refilling water before it gets too low

- Keeping kennels clean and sanitary
- Following feeding schedules
- Paying attention to individual dog instructions
- Noticing when something needs to be done and taking care of it
- Staying productive throughout the shift
- Communicating concerns promptly
- Following through on assigned responsibilities

We value employees who take initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done. Why Work With Us?
- $18.00/hour
- Part-time position with increased hours during peak season
- Work with dogs every day
- Hands-on experience in an animal-care environment
- Listen to music while you work
- Opportunity to develop valuable kennel and animal-care skills
- A supportive team environment
- A rewarding job where the work you do directly contributes to the comfort and wellbeing of the animals in our care

- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, squat, and kneel
- Lift and carry food, cleaning supplies, and other kennel items
- Safely handle dogs
