The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to draw upon and develop their culinary skills. Ideal candidates are passionate about food, eager, and flourish in a team environment.

THE POSITION

As the Kitchen Assistant, you support all aspects of food service, including cleaning and sanitization, within the dining hall and eating areas of RWB student living center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Clean and sanitize food service stations, equipment, serving utensils, and dishes.
- Serve prepared food.
- Prep duty as required.
- Deliver food and equipment to and from kitchen/catering company and dining hall to prepare for presentation.
- Maintain hot wells, salad bar, and to-go food stations, ensuring they are rinsed and sanitized.
- Receive and store food, supplies, equipment, and utensils in designated areas.
- Support Head Chef with inventory tracking and ordering.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining and eating areas, ensuring the highest standards.
- General supervision of dining hall and eating areas; clear and clean tables and respond to requests, forwarding all relevant student and staff feedback to Head Chef.
- Take out garbage and recycling.
- Sweep and mop floor.

WORKING CONDITIONS This position works in traditional and non-traditional dining halls and eating areas, and requires standing for long periods of time, lifting boxes and containers weighing up to 22 Kg (50lbs), and working with commercial style equipment. The Kitchen Assistant is required to wear an apron, hairnet or alternative suitable head cover, long pants and closed toed shoes with stockings. This position requires flexibility to work weekdays,



evenings and weekends as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

- Manitoba Food Handler Certificate or equivalent, or willingness to obtain.
- Previous work-related experience preferred.
- Knowledge in Childhood/Athletic Nutrition an asset.
- Basic computer skills and knowledgeable of various computer programs.
- First Aid certification preferred.
- Explicit Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Background Check.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to follow direction and take initiative.
