The Opportunity: The incumbent provides individualized academic support for students with disabilities by implementing evidence-based learning strategies, assistive technology and adaptive tools. The role includes coordinating alternate format materials, supporting accommodated testing while working closely and collaborating with Counsellors to implement individualized accommodation based on student needs. The incumbent is the lead coordinator for the Transition to College program and maintains accurate documentation to ensure services align with students’ disability-related needs.

This is a full-time support staff position, 35 hours/week, Payband G - $34.60 - $39.93/hour (starting rate $34.60/hour).

NOTE: I/O, Appendix D and PT Staff are considered internal applicants.

Required Skills

What you need to be successful:





- Two-year diploma in any Disabilities Focused Diploma Programs or Education support focused Program

- Credentials in Applied Learning Disabilities Studies Graduate Certificate (Micro Credentials : Learning Disabilities Applications and/or Learning Disabilities Theory and Best Practice is an asset

- Assistive Software Training is an asset

- Minimum of two years of experience working in education with students who have disabilities requiring accommodation

- Post-secondary experience is an asset

OR

- 8+ years of experience supporting students with diverse learning needs at the post-secondary level. Supports should include academic interventions and use of assistive technology.

- strong ability to communicate effectively – both verbally and written – in a professional manner
- demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft office suite products, including Word and Excel

- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative environment
- experience mentoring others
- excellent organizational, record-keeping, data entry skills
